“Ron, you did not tell me this was for a romance novelist,” I say as I peek through the bathroom door.

“What is the problem, Kodie?”

“The problem is they are asking for nude photos.”

“Implied nudity.”

“Nude is nude. I think that’s something that you should have revealed yesterday. I definitely would have turned down the job.”

“Do you know how much exposure you will get from having your face on the cover of a best-selling author’s novel? It’s nothing crazy I promise. The guy is probably just going to embrace you so you can look like a sweet couple in love. And they’re going to give you those thingies for your…” Ron puts his hands out in front of his chest to imply breasts.

“You mean pasties for my breasts, Ron?”

“That’s what they’re called? Pasties?”

“Yes, pasties.” I roll my eyes.

“Okay, you’re going to have pasties on and the guy is going to cover you for the most part. It’s just the look the author wants. It’s a book about an interracial couple so she wants skin to skin.”

I give him the “I don’t care” look.

“Kodie, this is business. This is a part of the modeling industry. You have to get used to it.”

“I know. But that doesn’t mean that I have to like it.” I let out a heavy sigh. I know I can’t not do the shoot. Everyone is already here and the studio is booked. There is no other model here to do the shoot and finding one at the last minute will look bad for me, Ron and Jayce. “Fine, Ron. But the next time, give me the option to choose whether or not I want to do nudity, implied or otherwise.”

“I honestly didn’t think that you would have a problem with it considering that the most important parts will be covered. Most models are comfortable with it and I apologize for assuming.”

“I understand. I’m used to being naked in front of strangers backstage at fashion shows and it doesn’t bother me. But this is a more intimate setting so it makes me a little uneasy. I’ll get over it. It’s my job, right?”

Ron smiles. “That’s the spirit. I’ll send the stylist over.”

I wait patiently for the stylist to come into the bathroom. She hands me a robe and nude pasties to cover my nipples. A few minutes later I walk out of the bathroom wearing the black satin robe and low-rise denim jeans. Everyone watches me as I make my way across the floor.

“We good?” Jayce asks.

“We good,” I respond as I pass by him and walk over to where the male model is standing in front of the lights.

He smiles. “Hi, I’m Evan.” He extends his hand.

“Hi, Evan, I’m Kodie. Nice to meet you.”

“Same here.”

We both stand awaiting instructions. Evan is definitely more comfortable than I am being topless in a pair of nice fitting ripped jeans. He has a nice physique. If I’d just saw him walking on the street I would immediately know that he’s a model.
